Let the awkwardness begin… in about 10 mins, John pap (ceo of hospital) will be here looking at my house for a few mins… then after he pokes around, he and his wife and I are all going to dinner… which is cool… but that isn’t the whole thing… we’re meeting up w/ his sister and his brother-in-law and their daughter who just happens to be my age.
The whole situation was out of my hands, so here’s to the night… but for those of you who KNOW me, you all know my philosophy on clothing… either extremely casual, or extremely dressy.. really don’t have much in-between. So I was rather relieved to hear we’re going to the Town Club in NY. (I.E. suit required). Who would have ever guessed that I’d be relieved to hear that??? Haha
Afterwards, I’m goin’ over to phil’s place for his going-away-forever party… should be a good time…

so yea.. this week hasn't been all that much fun... monday I went to bradford for nurse recruitment. I ended up very weak and achy so I left the recruitment meeting early to stand outside and get fresh air…
on the way home it was everything I could do to not throw up… so when we got back to warren, I just went home instead of going back to the hospital for the last few hours of work… I felt like throwing up at any second, but it never came… it was the weirdest feeling… so I didn’t set my alarm for today, so I could get some extra sleep…. Nonetheless I was up at like 8:00 anyway, so I only gained an hour of sleep… the feeling of exhaustion went in phases today, but it’s all good… I’m feeling better now… I have a lot of work to do on the website before Thursday…
I’m going to pgh this weekend to see my bro and such… and Saturday night I’m going to see my sister play North Catholic… in the State Playoff’s…
That’s about all I really have for tonight…

It’s amazing how quick a week will go by… the last time I updated I had just spent an hour outside in my bare feet, now I sit here, in my bare feet again, sore as hell and tired as I’ve felt in a long time…
This week was a quick one, rather uneventful… I really don’t even remember what I did a lot of the time… I know I took photos of a few basketball games, put a lot of photos online, and that’s about it…
At work, let’s see, Monday, I worked on the website and such, Tuesday I went on a nurse recruitment trip up to JCC… they seemed receptive… OH and I somehow managed to get huge gash in my tire on Monday… so I had to get new set of tires and everything… which I didn’t have the money for… until I remembered that I was just given my raise on Monday morning, along w/ an official title! I just bumped from 23,000 to 32,500 and was named the Public Relations Manager… so that’s a good thing that happened this week… other than that, wed-Friday was spent working on the website… I did however go on a nice business lunch w/ John (ceo of the hospital) and Skip (cfo of the hospital) and Steve Rothenberg (ceo of Interlecterec). We went to the Conewango club, and while we were there, they picked me up an application… now that I can actually afford it, I’m going to join… granted, I’m not one to join a club like that, but then again, it will be nice go have a decent place to go take someone to eat…and I’ve been to the Men’s night there (isn’t it odd that the “Conewango Men’s club” has a Men’s night???) it’s not a bad way to spend Thursday evening.
This weekend, I shot a basketball game on Saturday, then went home and started on my goal to get the house in order finally! Spent 6 hours finishing the painting job in the bathroom… it looks good… didn’t get to bed until well after 1am, and at 7:30, the sun was shinning into my room enough that it made me wake up. So I spent the rest of the day working on the house and doing laundry and now I sit here in bed, folding the last of my socks, and I’m whooped…

i want you all to experience this... so here are my instruction's to everyone who my be reading this...
1) take your shoes and socks off
2) go stand out side
3) just stand there.. until you can't feel your fingers and toes...
4) now think about this, does it hurt to breath? but at the same time, do you crave that breath? this is my addiction... it is only when you crave air that you realize that you want what ever live can throw at you... you notice every time you take in a breath and when you exhale... it's an amazing experience... it can change your life...

Alright… this week, again, has flown by… and it’s over tomorrow afternoon! But I’ll get to that in a few min’s…
Worked on the hospitals website for a good chunk of time this week, and a few PowerPoint presentations. Other than that, not a lot has gone on. At work anyway..
Over the weekend, clay called me to tell me that he burnt out his clutch and was going to need a ride home at some point on Monday… so Monday I drove out to Penfield to pick him up… no big deal… on the way home, I picked him up, as well as a little yellow piece of paper that says I owe Magistrate 30-2-563 $150. bastard cop says he got me going 72 in a 55… I don’t know how though… I’m not denying that I did it, I just don’t know how he got me with radar when he was behind a 13 foot tall snow bank… by the time I saw him behind the snowbank, he already had his lights on and was pulling out… oh well, at least he didn’t get me when I was doing 135 in a 55… now you all know me, I like to go fast… but I’m sure you’re all saying “matt, 135 in a 55, on a rural route??? What the hell were you thinking” well I’ll tell you… it was a long straight away, and as I was going down the hill, I hit 120 at the bottom of it, and realized that I’ve owned the car for almost a year now, and still haven’t maxed out the MPH’s.. so I just stayed on the gas as I went back up the other side of the hill. Hit the needle to pin and then backed off… just for kicks, you know…
Tuesday and today, nothing really happened at all
I’m going to try and get to bed soon (before 12 if possible) because of what’s going on in the next few days… Tomorrow, as soon as I can (depending on if clay sub’s or not) I’m going to leave work, and pick clay up, and we’re going to PGH for a long weekend… Party with the 2804 crew Thursday and Friday night… Saturday I need to run up to erie and shoot my kid sister’s basketball game… they made the playoffs… but anyway, after the game, I’m goin’ back down to PGH to party for another night… Stupid? Immature? Irresponsible? Sure, fun? Hell Yes, and that over rides everything else on the weekends… especially when it involves those girls…
Well, I’m going to work on some photos, and try and pass out…

so friday I worked till around 1... I bought some roses for Kristen, Krystal and Lynn. Kristen came over to pick them up to take them down to the group. I think they were all happy with them.
Drew and Jenny came in to town around 3:00 and we started in on the house. We got the ceiling patched and what not and started in on the painting. by Friday night, the spare bedroom was done. saturday drew, Jenny and I went furniture shopping. Ended up buying a kitchen table and chairs. completes the room really. now I just need some photos on the walls and some curtains for the windows/doors and it'll be set.
When we got home, we went and started in on the bathroom. looks good, i just need to buy some trim paint and that will be done too... I need curtains for the whole upstairs also, but that'll come
Today I woke up feeling like I had the worst hangover ever!!! apparently you should open windows when you've painted a few rooms in your house... needless to say the fumes got to me and made me sick from sleeping in them all night.
I decided I didn't need take tomorrow off, because we got most of the work done. So with that in mind, I'm going to take friday off, and clay and I will party it up with the whole 2804 crew... Saturday he will go to Kent for the basketball game out there, and I'm going up to erie to take photos of pach's playoff game.. then back down to party with everyone.. (including kev who will be brought back w/ clay)
BUT clay's car broke down this weekend, so who knows what will happen now... not that he was going to drive down, but he may not want to go down now for one reason or another...
well I need to get some more cleaning done, so I'm gonna jet... here's to another good quick week... leading to a good weekend of partyin' (w/ pants on!!!) |

Ok, real quick recap of the weekend…
Friday, my car started acting up… but none the less, I went to the hockey game and took clay and pach along… I took over 800 shots… loved every second of the game…
On the way home, my car just kept sounding worse…
Saturday I went and took it into the shop in warren… told the guy that I needed an oil change, and that I wanted him to top off the fluids, and find out why it sounded like I had a $7,000 muffler… after he got my car up on the lift, he came in and said that the reason it sounded like I had a $7,000 muffler, is because the muffler was knocked off and there was a huge crack in the exhaust pipe coming from the engine.. not good…
But after that, I went to my sister’s game and such… when I got home, I edited photos till around 11 or 12… it was then, that I saw that phil was online, drinking at home… so I threw him a message to see if I could join him… he said sure… so I went over there and hung out for a while… then he eric and I went to the Draft House.. played some pool and shiznit… talked to Bucky and Bri…
Sunday I woke up to see water coming in through the ceiling of my laundry room (because the ice on my roof was about 12 inches thick…) so needless to say I was pissed
So my dad came over and helped me chop it all up and get rid of it. After that I continued to edit hockey photos till late into the night…
Monday I went to work and left early to take my car up to Jamestown to get my muffler fixed… $250… blah… that wasn’t built into my budget this month! But when I got home, I looked and saw that the snow in the front of my house was all messed up… so I thought maybe the ice build up on the front of my house fell off… so I looked up to the roof to see if that’s what happened… and what did I see? New gutters on my house… bastards… (the back story is, I called this company to get a quote on the new gutters and their quote came in at like $700 which was terrible… so I called them and tried to see if we could change the options and I wanted a new quote… so he said to sign it and fax him the form… he said that they couldn’t do anything until after they received a real copy in the mail, but that he could use the fax to go over and create a new quote… well they never got me a new quote, so I threw all the paperwork out… now they just up and put new gutters in..) so I called them and told them what happened, and she said that the sales rep wasn’t in, and that they would call me back on Tuesday… Now, if you put gutters on a house with out their permission, don’t you think that would be something you want to take care of as soon as you could? That’s what I would think… but apparently they don’t think like you and I do. So I called them at like 4:00 and she said he was in and that he got my message, but that he had a lot going on today… and that he’d call me back if he found time…

this week has flown by faster than any other...
The weekend was great, but we need a time when it's the whole weekend, not just the one day... sunday I came back home after only dropping my suitcase off on friday night. My house was trashed by sunday night... I hate it. It was clean last week, and then in one day I was able to get it all disorganized again. oh well, it's pretty clean again. so it's all good.
this week at work was a lot of catch up from being away last week for the conference. I found out that the new job descriptions have "kind of" been nailed down. my temporary new title is "Director of Employee Relations and Media Creation" haha, what a joke... I hate titles. I think I got it from my dad. He STILL refuses to call himself the CEO. just mocks it by saying that he's TBC of Warren Electric Co-op. (TBC = The Big Cheese) You've gotta love that. (Oh, and don't bitch at me because I didn’t call you about the promotion. it's not "firmed up" until we all meet with Boss John... so who knows what could change before then...
but nonetheless, I've started actual progress on the website for the hospital. I have a FIRM march first date for a total roll-out of the site. so that's less than a month away.
needless to say, I've been working 10 and 12 hours a day just trying to get everything done. but I don't mind, I love my job.
I'm going to Jamestown tomorrow night to shoot a hockey game. should be a good time. just wish there was something else to do on a friday night, than work. I think hayes was talkin' about commin up with me, but who knows.
Next week will be a "short week". I'm taking friday off next week because we get our birthday off... and since my birthday is next saturday, I'm takin that friday off... AND on account of everyone either being busy w/ their better half or out of town, I think I'm going to finish up the work on the bathroom upstairs and the spare bedroom. yeah, yeah... I don't want to here it... doing work on my birthday and all, but whatever, if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears at this point.
OH, Gutter said she may come up for a few days next week and work for her dad while she has the days' off of work down in pgh. Which would be great. just one more part of the group back home, even if it's just temporary.
I tried calling Jonathon this week a few times this week, to get a poker game together, but he wasn't feeling well, and whatnot. so probably next week.
I wish I could sleep more! just can't seem to get to sleep at nights anymore... like tonight... it's 1am, and I'm still wide awake, music's not helpin, tv's not either. Neither is silence. just glad I get to sleep in on saturday.

this past week was absolutely nuts... my week in Darden went by all too quick, and was all too busy... we had about 14 hour days after we got our group work done... Afterwards, we ended up going to the pub they had set up for us, then I'd end up going back to my room and talkin' to people online..
Saturday I got back to buffalo around 10:00pm, the roads weren't great, so I didn't end up pullin into warren till close to 1... (most of the time, we were just getting our bags and such... only took about 2hrs of driving time) picked clay up around 1:30am and went to PGH... got there around 4:00 or so...
before we passed out, we put Kristen’s tree in front of their computer desk, in the middle of the hallway... haha..
Saturday we woke up and putzed around for along time... eventually we went to Monroeville for Chinese... then drove out to kent to get kev... got back to PGH around 11:00 and started to party...
I passed out around 3:00 or so...
SO much fun, Trey, you were missed!

so the past couple nights have been rather fun
the past couple mornings haven't been...
and with partyingd' in Pgh on saturday night, I think I want to just catch up on sleep tonight...
today is the last full day of class... and it isn't even a full day... only from 8 till 2:30, so it's going to be a good time.. tomorrow is only one class then a quick lunch, then we're jumpin' into a plane to Charlotte NC... then Cathy (Hospital board member) and I have a 3-4 hour layover then we fly to buffalo... land at 10:30 or so... which means we won't be home till well after midnight by the time we collect baggage AND by the time we get my car jumped... after sitting out in the cold w/o being started in a week, I guarantee you that any car battery would be dead...
and the WORST part about the whole thing is, I have to take Cathy home... so no loud music to help keep me awake on my drive home from buffalo... and no driving home really really fast... so that will be an adventure...
well I've got to go... But I'll leave you with this...

so to be "fancy" they don't give you regular soap and shampoo... all Bath and Body Works... and my shampoo is Juniper breeze... haha... oh well
Classes are absolutely intense... I'm huge at a disadvantage because of how young I am... I was one of the last people to introduce myself to the group during our "warm-up-intro" period of class... everyone was standing up and saying'.. I'm Such and such w/ a company, I work in X department and I've been w/ the company for 30 years, 5 years 40 years etc.... I stood up and was like "my name is Matt Franklin I work in the Public Relations/Marketing department at Warren General Hospital and I've been with the company for about 8 months now. Before that I was attending college, so this is actually an all too familiar sight for me."
oh well... time for class again... talk to you later!!!

I really never want to see numbers again... The HCHY retreat/advance went really well... everyone seemed to like it... it was the right mix of work and fun...
Saturday I wasted the whole day away and at the last min decided it was time to pack and such...
woke up at 6 today, drove up to Buffalo airport, met up w/ Mrs. Zawaki and such, she didn't talk all that much, but whateva...
flight to DC wasn't bad at all... we had a 2 hour layover which went by pretty quick, then we had a 20 min flight to University of Virginia. got here, in the hotel room, and worked for about an hour to get the network settings to mesh with the internet... it wouldn't go... I was so pissed, so I ironed my clothes from being in the suitcase and such. then we went to dinner... surf'n turf for the first night. not bad. came back and messed around with some settings some more... and as you can see, I finally was able to find the settings that they needed... blah
so now I've been working on this homework for about 2 hours, and I'm exhausted, I really don't understand these numbers at all! but I'll fake it... tonight at dinner, everyone was talking about the PepsiCo Annual report that we were supposed to go over... everyone was talking about the numbers and such, all I noticed was that every photo was of a person playing a sport and using a pepsi/frito product... totally dismissing the fact that their prime customer is a high school/college student sitting in front of the TV... and their message was that they are a health promoting company and such... Total marketing ploy to make their shareholders feel good about the company.... so you can see that my marketing/CommRX education actually taught me things, just none of them really apply to the situation I find myself in now... but oh well, if I new what I was doing, I wouldn't be at this conference.
alright, time to read some more of these numbers and such, and then go to bed....

Well this is the last time I will be updating from this office… it has been my “home” for 8 months now… suited me well… (as in it’s tiny as hell w/ no windows and no door, but I didn’t complain… haha)
Tomorrow is moving day… should be a good time… except I’m still not breathing right… I didn’t have time to go to my Primary Doc, so I just stopped in to the clinic here at the hospital… she said that my lungs SUPRISINGLY sound perfectly clear, so she can’t tell where the raspy breathing is coming from… she said she wouldn’t be surprised that in my working in the dusty store room in our office all last week, and then working on my house this weekend, that I didn’t bring back my asthma… so I’ve got two ‘scripts to pick up on my way home
Well that’s all I really have, I’m gonna finish packin up my office and then get the hell out of here…

finally, in a happy mood again...
Friday night I ended up talking to Kristen, helpin' her out w/ her resume a little bit... trying to find her a job up here... Jan 31'st can't come soon enough... clay and I are going to go down and pick up Kev in Kent, and then head to PGH to chill w/ the 2804 crew... it'll be great... I'm really in the mood for that. and if Kristen ends up moving back up here, clay and I will have another person to hang out with... AND we're one step closer to having the whole crew back together... I think we lost Emily completely, w/ Jeff and all.. haha... 's all good though... Nick I think will always be a ways away, but I don't know if he'll always be as far as he is now. Trav will be back from England in the fall... which only leaves Kev... just so long as we all stay with in 2 hours of each other, it will all work out in the end...
I couldn't really sleep that well Friday night, took like an hour nap or so... When I "woke up" I was ready to do something constructive. So I started tearing out the wallpaper in the upstairs of my house. I got it all out of the bathroom and the guestroom. the problem is, I don't have much time to prep the walls or paint right now... I get my birthday off, and since my birthday is on a Saturday this year, I'll take the Friday before off. So I think Friday the 13th (dun dun dun...) I'll take the day off and use that weekend to prep my house... I can only assume clay will go to Philly to be w/ Caroline over V-day, so it'll end up just being me in town... so I think it'll be a good time to get those two rooms off my list of things to fix up.
After the wallpaper fun, I went to my grandparents house for dinner, my uncle was in... said my photos prices are still too low, about 25-50% below the standard, but I told him for the 100th time that they are that low so people can afford to buy as many as they want... it's more about building a return service than a one time business for me... (for those who don't know, he's a wedding photographer as his side job) so we come from different aspects of the business... but we also are different "brained". He's an air/space engineer so he's totally left brained, I work in PR and Design, so I'm the exact opposite... but nonetheless, I had to leave right after dinner because I wanted to shoot the boy's basketball game. it was alot closer than it should have been, but it was a good game, lot of good shots.
After that, I came home and did some work for Darden. I can't believe that conference is in a week... AND I can't believe I get my new office on Tuesday! I've only been there for 8 months, and I'm already getting a new office, I love my job!
today I watched the games and worked more on Darden. I think I'm actually getting the hang of it. I think I'm gonna try and get to bed soon, I'm still not feeling great... I need to find time to get to my doc... hopefully it is just the beginning of bronchitis or something simple like that... I can't deal w/ having pneumonia or the big M right now (Mono) I don't feel sick, just have "tight lungs"
